“Fresh and Exciting … these guys ROCK!”
–Tommy Emmanuel, Australian guitar virtuoso

Loren Barrigar and Mark Mazengarb share a unique musical chemistry and stage presence seldom found among musicians.

Their live performances feature not only their spectacular technical grasp of the guitar, but also vocal duets, highlighting their outstanding musicality and spontaneous creativity. The interaction between the two musicians is as much a part of their shows as is their world-class guitar playing. Loren & Mark have performed in Rochester before – opening for Tommy Emmanuel – but this is their first Golden Link concert.

Their diverse repertoire of original and arranged music is influenced by Americana, jazz, Country Western and classical music. Loren and Mark’s unique style of guitar playing is largely built on the thumb-picking techniques pioneered by guitar greats Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, and their songs feature Loren’s superb vocals with some beautiful harmonies from Mark.

Since their first performance together at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) convention in 2010, the duo has toured extensively in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Russia, and New Zealand. Based in the Syracuse area, they have three albums, which have all won SAMMYs (Syracuse Area Music Awards) for Best Album. The title track of their second studio album, Onward, won Best Instrumental at the International Acoustic Music Awards in 2013.
