Banjo and Ukulele Workshops with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer!

UKULELE WITH MARCY MARXER:

11 am - 12:30 pm    BEGINNING UKULELE
All ages, all fun - get started holding, tuning, strumming and chording the ukulele.
 
1 pm - 2:30 pm    INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCE UKULELE
Learn a chorded melody version of Bye Bye Blues, learned directly from Roy Smeck, a pioneer of the ukulele. Learn 1 fingerpicking arrangement that will challenge you to stretch out & play a beautiful melody such as Old Folks at Home (Swannee River) or Shenandoah
 

CLAWHAMMER BANJO WITH CATHY FINK:

11 am - 12:30 pm    BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE CLAWHAMMER BANJO
This class will be geared to new players through intermediate players. Beginning right and left hand techniques will be taught, with review for the intermediate players. We will then move on to intermediate tune/techniques which beginners may watch and absorb.
 
 1 pm - 2:30 pm    ADVANCED CLAWHAMMER BANJO - VARIATIONS ON A TUNE
How to create variations once you’ve learned a tune on the banjo. Tips, tricks, philosophy and note by note demonstration.   Examples will be taught in G tuning and Double C tuning with tunes such as Little Billy Wilson, Old Bunch of Keys, West Fork Gals & Soldier's Joy

GRAMMY® Award winners Cathy & Marcy are master musicians on five-string banjo and ukulele. With literally hundreds of awards, they still delight in helping people make music a part of their lives and have taught at Steve Kaufman’s Kamp, Augusta  Heritage Workshops, Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and many more music camps.
