An open letter from Festival Chairman John Stevens:
Help!
The
Turtle Hill Folk Festival is in big-time need of pre-sale ticket buyers,
sponsors and contributors! We think we are going to have a great show, great
weather and a great crowd. (Gail... You did put in the good weather request for
this year, right?)
What
can you do to help?
First
of all, bring yourself and ten of your best friends to the show! Really, our
best insurance for financial success is a well-pleased large turnout. We’ve
worked hard at putting together a great line-up, and believe that there’s
something for everybody. Please consider buying weekend tickets in advance and
bringing the whole family, participating in everything that tickles your fancy,
and maybe even buying a few CDs of the music you like the best. Your advance
ticket funds help us pay our “up front” expenses.
Secondly,
consider a donation to Golden Link, in the name of the Turtle Hill Folk
Festival. We are sorely in need of a new dual-tape deck for the library, a
portable sound system for the workshops and community events, and underwriters
for various big dollar cost drivers, such as the main stage tent and the
facility rental. Contributors will get a tax deduction, their names or
organizations prominently listed in the program, and a big deal made about you
throughout the Festival! All that, and the satisfaction that you have helped
insure the success of a long-standing musical tradition in our area, one that we
are mighty proud to promote. Any amount that you can donate is welcome!
Thirdly,
renew your membership, or perhaps give a membership as a gift. The benefits of
being a member of the Golden Link Folk Singing Society have remained the same
over all these years. It’s still the best cultural buy in the Rochester Area.
You get great discounts on Concert and Festival ticket prices, and the GL
Newsletter still is a veritable “Who’s-Doing-What-To-Whom-And-With-Which”
musically in the Rochester area.
Come
out and enjoy, especially if you have not been out-and-about for the festival in
recent years. It’s always been a great place to catch up with all of your
friends, and there’s always those people you only seem to see once a year.
Bring an instrument and jam in the campground or around the campfire! (Remember
how much fun that can be?) We also still need volunteers to help out, in many
areas such as the Gate, Kid’s areas, Set-up and Takedown, etc. Let us know if
you can help!
