The founding Golden Link club member, and fixture at Tuesday meetings, Allen is one of the area’s busiest folkies, performing up to 200 gigs a year for seniors, libraries, historical societies, schools, coffeehouses, and local festival. His 50-year career has included bluegrass, blues, Celtic, klezmer, old-time, and just plain folk music, performed on a dozen instruments, as a solo and in a variety of duets and groups. Allen loves to inspire group singing, and guarantees to include opportunities for mass chorus participation.
Lee was given his first guitar as a Christmas present with he was 15 years old. He was inspired to teach himself how to play by buying books of songs, playing methods, and how to tune the guitar. He was influenced by music from Johnnie Cash, Peter Paul and Mary and other greats from the 60's on. Lee developed several of his own finger picks and strumming styles and has recorded much of his music on CDs that have been given to friends and family.
