The Golden Link Folk Singing Society Runs on Volunteers!
There are many fun ways to get involved and help keep the club moving, as well as learn some new skills and make some new friends. Some require only a small investment of time on an occasional basis. Sign up to show your interest by clicking the button above, and leave a comment to let us know how you'd like to help! We'll be in touch with you soon.
Note - you don't have to sign up for a particular event or activity. Just let us know you're interested and we'll add you to our list of potential helpers. We'll contact you when a need arises to see if you're available.
Here are some of the ways you can make a difference:
The Golden Link board is made up solely of volunteers who have committed to fill their position on the board for a year. Check our List of Board Members to see the roles that people have taken on. The board meets once a month on a Monday evening, and each role involves some additional work between the meetings. To learn more about a particular role and its responsibilities, contact the board member through email on the Contact Us page.
Golden Link Turtle Hill Folk Festival
The Festival has its own committee that works during the year to plan the event. The committee is made up of some of the board members, along with other Folk Link members who have volunteered to help, and attend planning meetings.
If you'd like a lesser involvement, the festival itself needs many volunteers to work the weekend in a variety of areas such as taking tickets, setting up the stage areas, selling Folk Link merchandise, helping to keep the areas clean, arranging seating, etc.
Because there are some benefits which can be earned by volunteering at the Festival, volunteer positions are limited to paid Golden Link members only.
Tuesday Night Sing-arounds
Each week at the Sing-around, leaders are needed! Also, help is needed in arranging the chairs, setting up refreshments, getting the entry table set up with name tags and literature, cleaning up afterwards, etc.
Fifth Tuesday Concerts
Four times a year, on months that have a 5th Tuesday, instead of the sing-around we host a Members' Showcase Concert. We need help setting up the sound system, running the sound board, and performing sound checks, as well as setting up seating, the ticket table, refreshments, and cleaning up afterwards.
Our once a month concerts can usually use an extra hand or two with ticket taking, refreshments, and cleanup.
The Folk Link is involved in a variety of other community activities involving folk music and volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated!
