At the Turtle Hill Folk Festival in September, Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers and Wendy Sassafras Ramsay – aka Pepper & Sassafras – were selected the audience favorite during the New Voices Emerging Artist Showcase. They return to Golden Link for their own full-length concert on Saturday, November 19 at 7:30 pm at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church.
Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers is the grand-prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine. Musician Patty Larkin says, “Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers’ songs ring true and new. Spot-on work from an American wordsmith.” He teams up with Wendy Ramsay, harmonizer extraordinaire, who adds flute, clarinet, guitar, accordion, and her quirky originals to the mix.
Based in Syracuse, the duo collaborated on Rodgers’ latest album, Almost There, which won the SAMMY Award for Best Americana. They have performed at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and have been featured on the radio program Folk Alley. Click here for a video clip from their Folk Alley appearance:
Tickets are available on the Golden Link website. Order advance tickets online and save $2 over the price at the door. Click here for more information.
Rodgers will also lead a workshop on Writing Songs with Guitar at 1 pm on Saturday at Bernunzio’s Uptown Music. Author of The Complete Singer-Songwriter, he shares tips and techniques for using the guitar in songwriting. Learn how to turn riffs and grooves into songs, develop chord progressions, and more. Click here for information on the workshop or contact Bernunzio’s to register.
Keep on singing!
