Golden Link presents folk, Gypsy jazz, and world-beat grooves of Zoë Lewis

Rochester, NY – Zoë Lewis is a band in one body! She plays folk originals, Gypsy jazz, jump jive, Latin grooves, vintage swing, and more on ukulele, piano, guitar, washboard, harmonica, and spoons. Her performances are high-energy and fun, full of music and stories. She brings her mix of folk- and jazz-influenced music to Rochester for a Golden Link concert on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 7:30 pm at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church, 2750 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield.

Originally from England, Zoë Lewis now resides in Provincetown on Cape Cod, MA, where she performs every summer. She has traveled around the globe to more than 70 countries, picking up world-beat grooves and stories on the way; jumping box cars, riding on freight boats, and has even played music with an elephant orchestra in Thailand. She’s written music for commercials, movies, and two original musicals. She leads a 1920s Speakeasy Night – specializing in Prohibition-era jazz – with her dance band Zoë Lewis and the Bootleggers, which has become a big summertime hit on Cape Cod.

Lewis has toured and performed with the Indigo Girls, Pat Benatar, Judy Collins, Richie Havens, and Nanci Griffith, to name a few. She has released eight albums of original material. She was the winner of the Colorado Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Troubadour Award in 2003, New Folk Winner 2002 at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, and 2001 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Audience Favorite. In 2013, she was voted Provincetown Woman of the Year.

"She stormed the main stage playing everything from swinging folk and Latin jazz to acoustic funk and sprightly Celtic flavoured tunes. Her boundless energy was hard to ignore." - Ottawa Xpress, Canada

"A true artist. She is blessed with the uncanny ability to uncover the extraordinary beauty in the seemingly ordinary." - Bay Windows, MA.
