Not children's ballads! Come learn about these songs that are an important part of American and British folk traditions in a workshop led by Mitzie Collins.
It will include some singing and sharing of ways to learn those intriguing Child Ballads. “By the way,” she warns, “these are songs that are NOT for children!” These are ballads that were collected and anthologized by Francis James Child.
Mitzie is a proud "Founding Mother" of Golden Link and loves to participate in group singing. With her husband, Tom Bohrer, she founded Sampler Records Ltd., which produced many titles of acoustic folk music. "We are slowing down on the sales of recordings," says Mitzie, "but I'm not slowing down at all in making music.” She teaches hammered dulcimer through the Eastman Community Music School, regularly serves as a substitute organist at churches throughout the region, and performs at many community events.
(It would be tragic to miss this workshop.) Registration is online only so sign up soon to reserve your spot! After the workshop, attend the second part of the Tuesday singaround and share what you’ve learned!
Note: Ticket Sales will end on Sunday, April 7.
