Penny Whistle Workshop

Learn to play the Penny Whistle in this two-hour workshop for beginners and novices.

Many of you have heard Ralph Minervino, at our Fifth Tuesday concerts and elsewhere, adding the lively tones of the whistle to a variety of musical styles.  He will teach us how to finger the six holes of the whistle, play a D scale, and hopefully play a simple tune or two by the end of this two-hour session.

No prior musical training or ability to read music is required for the workshop.  However, the instructor would like a brief statement from each person explaining what your experience with music has been, in general and any specific goals you have for this workshop.

DiatonicScale.jpgThere will be a limit of 10 participants for this workshop; advance registration by January 8th will be required.  Workshop fee is $6 to defray room rent and material costs.  In addition, you will be responsible for purchasing or bringing a D whistle on your own.  They can be purchased from about $4 to $7 online or at local music stores.  Guitar Center, Music and Arts, House of Guitars, and Archimage all carry them, but stock is limited.

In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather, insufficient enrollment, or other emergency, those who have pre-registered will be notified.

If you have questions, please contact Dean Santos using this email link for our Education Coordinator.

Registration: $6.00 (covers cost of the room rental)

Note: The Last day for registration is Saturday, January 9th.  Workshop is subject to cancellation if there is insufficient interest, based on number of registrations.
