“Among contemporary country performers, Robin and Linda Williams shine like a diamond amid rhinestones ...” – The Boston Globe
“…Robin and Linda Williams create music that is both comfortable and thoughtful – a rare combination that explains why and how the Williamses are able to keep on an even keel while musical trends come and go. They don't play at being country – they are country.” – No Depression magazine
The Virginia-based duo of Robin and Linda Williams is known for their rich harmonies and original songwriting rooted in the country/bluegrass/gospel tradition. They gained widespread national prominence on the radio show “A Prairie Home Companion,” as well as appearances on such major programs as “The Grand Old Opry,” “Austin City Limits,” and “Mountain Stage.”
As live performers they are second to none, engaging audiences with their powerful singing, their gift for capturing moments of universal life, and a rare personal appeal. But it’s their superb songwriting that earned an even rarer honor: the devotion and deep respect of their musical peers. The list of artists who have covered their original songs include some of the greats of country music, names like Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tom T. Hall, Tim & Mollie O’Brien, Kathy Mattea, and The Seldom Scene.
The Williams celebrated their musical legacy in 2013 with the release of their studio album Back 40, which features fresh treatments of their early classics, many from albums long out of print, and favorites by other writers.
Having come full circle with their return to performing as a duo, Robin and Linda continue to tour constantly. When not on the road, they come back to their old frame house built around a log cabin in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, where they have lived for more than 40 years.
