Golden Link presents a special performance with Canadian singer-songwriter Garnet Rogers

Rochester, NY – Hailed by The Boston Globe as a “charismatic performer and singer,” Canadian singer-songwriter Garnet Rogers was on the road at age 18 touring with his brother – the late folk legend Stan Rogers – in one of the most influential duos in the history of North American folk music. Since then, he has established himself as a formidable solo artist, performing at folk clubs and concert halls across North America. Rogers performs on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 pm at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Rd., Rochester, NY.

With his “smooth, dark baritone” (Washington Post), his incredible range, and thoughtful, dramatic phrasing, Rogers is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere. An optimist at heart, he sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small everyday victories. As memorable as his songs, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick wit move his audience from tears to laughter and back again.

Rogers is also a published author, releasing his memoir Night Drive: Travels with My Brother and the novels 6 Crows Gold and As the Crow Flies.

Rogers says he is making one last lap around to all the places he’s played during his career – which includes past appearances at Golden Link. This is likely the last chance to see him performing in Rochester.

“A brilliant songwriter. One of the major talents of our time.” – The Boston Globe

“The greatest interpreter and vocalist performing in the contemporary folk scene.” – Sing Out

Food Drive: Garnet Rogers asked us to coordinate with a local food bank or shelter and encourage audience members to bring non-perishable donations of food and items of personal care to the concert to help the less fortunate in the community. Golden Link is teaming up with Greece Baptist Church to collect items for the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf from May 2 to May 18 and audience members are invited to bring non-perishable items to the concert.

Pete & Woody: An Unlikely Friendship

Friday, June 12, 2026, 7:30 pm

Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Rd, Rochester NY 14626

Created by New York City folk singers Steve Suffet and Pat Lamanna, Pete & Woody: An Unlikely Friendship is a one-hour multimedia presentation that explores the relationship between folk icons Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. After they first met in 1940, Woody Guthrie became Pete Seeger’s mentor, inspiration, and guide who set him on a journey that continued all his life. Over time, however, their relationship changed, and Pete became Woody’s champion, helping to promote Woody’s songs and story as Woody’s mental and physical health began to deteriorate. Pete continued to play this role after Woody passed away in 1967, and much of Woody’s worldwide popularity today is a direct or indirect result of Pete’s efforts.

Pete & Woody consists of 15 songs performed live, along with slides and narration. Suffet and Lamanna originally developed it for the Walthamstow Folk Club in London, England, where it was enthusiastically received in October 2019. They have presented it several times since and look forward to presenting it anew for Golden Link, with Richard Mattocks delivering the narration.

Tickets: General Admission: $10. Tickets are available in advance online at www.goldenlink.org or purchase at the door (cash or check only).
