irst, I would like to say how much I have enjoyed being a part of Golden Links for the past 8-9 months. Getting to play once or twice a week is something I really look forward to. I’ve been impressed many times by the people and tunes that are played in that room every week.
Music has always been a big part of my life–from running around singing “Red, Red Robin” when I was young to my Mom and older sisters playing Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Chuck Berry, and the Kingston Trio–I loved all of them. Then in February 1964, The Beatles changed everything. And they were having a blast doing it. I got my first guitar shortly after that. I started writing songs in 7th-8th grade and played in garage bands, high school bands, the choir, musical productions, weddings and open mikes. Fast forward 40/50 years with marriage, kids, work and now grandchildren. I wouldn’t have it any other way. But I’ve always enjoyed playing guitar and singing whenever and wherever I could and now that I’m retired, I have more time to do so.
I want to thank Golden Link, Jeff, and everyone else involved in allowing me this opportunity to play for everyone.
