THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED
At Golden Link, "Prime Time" is every Tuesday night from 7:30 to 10:00. Each person in the circle has the opportunity to sing a song, request a song, or pass. Each of these forms of participation is valued, respected, and time honored. This workshop is for people on "the edge," -- that is, those who would like to be able to present a song, but for whatever reason feel reluctant, and therefore defer to someone else, or even pass. About three years ago, The first "Edge of Primetime" workshop was launched. Starting out as a group of 8 to 10 reluctant SingAround presenters, they continued as a spinoff group after an initial "launching session" at a Tuesday night workshop. Most of the members of the group dramatically increased their participation level as active song presenters and leaders, and several are now among the most active at the Tuesday night SingArounds.
The workshop format is reminiscent of the SingArounds in that each person comes prepared to present a song, and does so in turn. However, deferring and passing are not options in this song circle. Rather than presenting nervously to a circle of 30 to 40+ people, you are singing to a trusted and more intimate group of 8 to 10 people, who take time to gently and supportively critique each person's song immediately following the performance.
